Day and Evening Custodians needed at different school sites.

 Must pass a background check and drug testing.  Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hours.  Job requires frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and occasional squatting/crouching. Must be able to kneel, climb and reach above the shoulders. Job requires frequent carrying/lifting up to 24 pounds, occasionally up to 75 pounds. Must be able to move furniture or machines or carry boxes of books up to 100 pounds.  Must poses manual dexterity sufficient to operate a sweeper, vacuum and mop. Job requires exposure to toxic gas, fumes and dust from cleaning supplies, and sweeping. Superintendent may approve appropriate and acceptable alternatives to the listed qualifications.

WORKING HOURS: 8 Hours Daily

REPORTS TO: Lead Custodian

EVALUATED BY: Custodial Supervisor

Job Functions:

1. Reports to the Lead Custodian who is responsible for the direction of cleaning the facilities.
2. Cleans and sanitizes restrooms using established practices and procedures. Maintains paper and supplies and refills restroom dispensers daily.
3. Cleans, dusts, and wipes furniture; sweeps, mops, or vacuums floors; empties and cleans wastebaskets and trash containers.
4. Picks up trash on building premises.
5. Washes walls, windows and blinds.
6. Waxes floors and cleans carpets as necessary.  Strips, cleans, buffs and applys floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuums and shampoos carpets.
7. Sets thermostats during shift.
8. Locks and unlocks assigned buildings: secures building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, and turn off lights.  Secures building at the end of the shift.
9. Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies on as needed basis.
10. Uses and maintains assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high-speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops and other equipment  for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture.
11. Attends safety meetings and other related meetings.
12. Takes classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques and new products, First Aid, and working relationships.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
