JOB TITLE:  Strength and Conditioning Coordinator

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  A Bachelor’s and Master’s degree is preferred.  Possession of NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification and USA Weightlifting Certification or equivalent certificate is preferred.  Has previous experience with conditioning programs for student athletes.  Have the ability to communicate and work effectively with people and the ability to work with large groups of student athletes.  Have strong organizational skills.  A valid driver’s license is necessary. Employee must be able to walk or stand for 4 hours.  Job requires occasional bending/stooping, squatting/crouching, kneeling, climbing, reaching above the shoulder and pushing/pulling. Job requires occasional carrying/lifting up to 45 pounds. Job requires employee to use both hands for repetitive actions involving simple/firm grasping and fine manipulation. Employee must possess hearing and speaking abilities to monitor equipment and communicate with employees, students, and parents.  Employee must perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Activities.  The Board of Education, Superintendent, and Athletic Director may approve alternatives to the listed qualifications.

 

CONTRACT: Classified Employee, 12 Months (260 days)

REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics/Activities

SUPERVISES: Student Athletes

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

1.  Design and implement a year-round sports specific athletic performance program for all student athletes at Bartlesville High School.

2.  Design/Teach/Coach assigned strength period(s) for athletes.

3.  Work closely with the Head Coaches of all sports to design an appropriate program.

4.  Designs integrated programs of weight training, running, flexibility, plyometrics, rehabilitation and reconditioning that will meet the needs of the individual student-athletes in-season, preseason, and off-season.

5.  Maintain the BPS weight room.  Keep appropriate records of equipment, make suggestions to administration for new equipment’s and needs, schedule maintenance of all weight room equipment.

6.  Maintain spreadsheets with data on all athletes in BPS athletics.

7.  Update and maintain weight room record boards.

8.  Promotes the high school Strength and Conditioning program among Bartlesville Public Schools and the Community.

9.  Partner with local universities to recruit and utilize strength and conditioning interns.

10.  Willingness to research and partner with colleagues to stay up to date on best Strength and Conditioning practices.

11.  Provide education and application into the proper eating habits for athletes to encourage the importance of nutrition in every phase of training and everyday life including athletic performance.

12.  Collaborate with Head Athletic Trainer to implement rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletes in all sports.

13.  Provide proper supervision in the weight room to ensure maximum safety for athletes.
