Part-time Adult English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher for Bartlesville Classes held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. 

 

Current Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Possess a minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited university.  A valid Oklahoma teaching certificate is required.  Possess the experience & ability to function in a variety of word processing, spreadsheet and database software programs.

           

CONTRACT: Paid by the hour

WORKING HOURS:  9 – 12 hours per week (mornings and/or evenings)

REPORTS TO: Bruin Academy Dean

EVALUATED BY: Bruin Academy

 

Essential Job Functions:                                                                                                                                                               

1.         Teach and assist adult ESL students in improving their English skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).

2.         Administer Best Literacy and Best Plus ESL pretests and post-tests.

3.         Utilize appropriate ESL curriculum using a variety of materials and teaching techniques to enhance student learning and outcomes.

4.         Work with community partners to establish Adult ESL classes.

5.         Maintain accurate, current, and complete student records.  Assess and document student progress, assist with data collection efforts, and     complete required reports.

6.         Participate in public relations efforts to recruit ESL students.

7.         Collaborate with the District’s ELL Coordinator to identify ELL parent needs and increase parental involvement.

8.         Participate in ELL parent involvement activities.

9.         Implement the English Literacy and Civics Education grant requirements.

10.       Incorporate the use of technology into the curriculum and classroom instruction as appropriate.

11.       Provide learning experiences which will lead to the achievement of educational and personal goals.

12.       Attend and participate in required professional development activities and Adult Education staff meetings.

13.       Work collaboratively with ABE instructors (both daytime and evening).

14.       Participate in BHS team meetings and activities.

15.       Perform other duties as assigned.
