LPN School Nurse
Current State License and Current CPR certification. One year Nursing experience preferred. Pediatric experience a plus. Job requires exposure to bodily fluids and communicable diseases. Employee must be able to walk for 7 hours. Job requires occasional bending/stooping/squatting/crouching/kneeling, climbing, reaching above the shoulder and pushing/pulling. Job requires occasional carrying/lifting up to 35 pounds. Job requires employee to use both hands for repetitive actions involving simple/firm grasping and fine manipulation. Employee must possess hearing and speaking abilities to monitor equipment and communicate with employees, students, and parents. The Board of Education and Superintendent may approve alternatives to the listed qualifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provides appropriate emergency health care and first aid treatment for students and staff.
- Performs specialized nursing skills as needed, such as nebulizers/inhalers, glucometers, epipen, insulin pump, feeding tube, trach care, cath care, etc.
- Makes appropriate referrals to physician, DHA, Health Department or other community agencies.
- Provides education/information to parents and students regarding health related issues.
- Performs appropriate pediatric assessment and referral in regards to chronic or contagious disease.
- Performs appropriate screenings/exclusions when necessary to minimize spread of contagious disease.
- Dispenses medication accurately and keeps detailed records.
- Develops health care plans and emergency plans of care when necessary.
- Assists in training staff in specialized emergency procedures.
- Maintains current state licensure and current CPR status.
- Maintains accurate log of services provided to students and informs parents of any medical concerns.
- Keeps District Nurse informed of major nursing concerns.
- Works in collaboration with site secretary to maintain immunization records and comply with OklahomaState law.
- Home visits as necessary, accompanied by counselor and/or principal designee.
- Other site specific duties as directed by the Principal and/or Director of Special Services.
