ATLAS Elementary Teacher  

ATLAS is the acronym for Academic Therapeutic Learning Alternative Setting

Current Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate

Certified in Early Childhood or Elementary Education

 

 

Reports to:  Principal, Executive Director of Elementary Education

 

Supervisory responsibilities:    Classroom students, teacher assistant and volunteers

 

Job Summary:  Plan and provide multi-grade level classroom instruction in an alternative classroom setting                designed to promote academic and behavioral success. 

 

Contract Length:  191 days. ATLAS teachers will work an additional 10 days beyond the regular teacher contract.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Teach Oklahoma Academic Standards for grade level curriculum
  • Collaborate with the other ATLAS team members (GLMH Therapist and Behavior Health Coach and teacher assistant) to establish goals, objectives and plan lessons and activities that ensure student success.
  • Work with the ATLAS team to develop and implement individualized Student Learning Plans.
  • Adapt and modify instruction based on students emotional, behavioral, academic and social needs.
  • Develop differentiated lessons appropriate for ATLAS students; small group, one-on-one, whole group, etc…
  • Participate in student placement and transition conferences.
  • Maintain an orderly and safe classroom environment.
  • Implementing guidelines that promote student safety while providing a nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom environment that encourages student responsibility.
  • Communicate with the school principal about student progress.
  • Maintain accurate student records.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student
  • Provide parents with training, support, and encouragement.
  • Partner with school counseling services and GLMH providers in order to positively affect student success.
  • Attend required staff and district meetings.
  • Participate in school-wide events.
  • Complete and participate in required building and district professional development activities.
  • Attend special training as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
