QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate Degree in Information Technology or equivalent education and training is required.   Current certifications in an Information Technology related field a plus.  Also required is working experience with PC set-up, configuration, networking and telecommunications protocols, network communication equipment including routers, switches, hubs, firewalls, server configurations, e-mail systems and website based services.  Excellent computer skills with both hardware and software are required.  Knowledge of networking, software applications, and SQL & Oracle data base software is desirable.  This individual must possess a valid driver’s license and a means of personal transportation to transport tools, parts and equipment and to travel within the District.  Job requires occasional bending/stooping/squatting

/crouching/kneeling, climbing, reaching above the shoulder and pushing/pulling.  Job requires occasional carrying/lifting up to 50 pounds.  Job requires employee to use both hands for repetitive actions involving simple/firm grasping and fine manipulation.  This employee must possess verbal & writing skills and hearing and speaking abilities to monitor equipment and communicate with employees, students, parents and vendors.  The Board of Education and Superintendent may approve alternatives to the listed qualifications.

CONTRACT: Twelve Months (260 Days)

WORKING HOURS:  8:00 –5:00 daily with occasional overtime and/or after hours work required

REPORTS TO:    Technology Director

EVALUATED BY:  Technology Director

SUPERVISES:     Does not supervise other employees

SALARY GRADE: V

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develops knowledge of District organizations and applications used to support operations.
  2. Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots and repairs computer systems, hardware, software, network equipment, server hardware, server operating systems, applications supporting classroom instruction and administration, the financial processes of the District, and network communications with ISP and remote locations in the District.
  3. Provides planning for data wiring and connectivity to support the requirements of the District communication needs. 
  4. Maintains the documents, provides support and maintains server/network user account information including operation system rights, security of individual systems, applications, District network and system groups. 
  5. Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software problems.  Performs system backups and recovery.  Maintains data files and monitors systems configurations to ensure data integrity and system performance. 
  6. Provides timely support to end users on a variety of issues. 
  7. Reviews, plans, evaluates and administers network systems and protocols to maintain external and internal web presence.   
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
