Districtwide Position that is housed at Madison Middle School

 

 

Current Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate

 

Valid Oklahoma State Department of Education School Psychologist certification is required.  Driving between District sites is required as is a valid driver’s license.  The availability of personal transportation is necessary.  Job requires occasional bending and reaching above the shoulder.  Job requires occasional carrying/lifting up to 25 pounds.  Job requires employee to use both hands for repetitive actions involving simple/firm grasping and fine manipulation.  Employee must possess hearing and speaking abilities to monitor equipment and communicate with employees, students, and parents.  The Board of Education and Superintendent may approve alternatives to the listed qualifications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assesses learning-related difficulties of referred students through appropriate consultation, problem-solving,  testing, and diagnostic practices.
  2. Administers appropriate assessments and determines eligibility for referred students.
  3. Helps identify within the school all types of  exceptional children.
  4. Contributes to the development of intervention activities to address student learning difficulties.
  5. Maintains records on appropriate students referred for intervention, problem-solving, and/or special education eligibility determination.
  6. Collaborate in the development of positive behavior support plans for children whose behavior problems are interfering with the educational process.
  7. Collaborates with other district personnel to provide crisis intervention as necessary and appropriate.
  8. Confers/collaborates with teachers and parents as part of a problem-solving process.
  9. Prepares required reports on children placed, referred or in need of special education programs.
  10. Attends multi-disciplinary evaluation and eligibility group meetings; contributes to the development of individual education plans as necessary and appropriate.
  11. Consults on the special educational needs of appropriate students with disabilities.
  12. Serves as a consultant on mental health topics for instructors in the school health program.
  13. Interprets the school psychological services to teachers and parents.
  14. Observes special education classes.
  15. Cooperates with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies.
  16. Attends staff, professional, and interagency  meetings.
  17. Assists with in-service training of school personnel.
  18. Conducts appropriate research.
  19. Keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned.
